The idea of Relimoji derived from an experience I visited the National Museum of China. In that
museum, I saw a Gong which is a wine container and was used for sacrificial ceremonies in Shang
Dynasty. That shape and appearance seemed intriguing to me. What worth to be mentioned is that in
ancient times this container was so solemn and was a part of the sacred atmosphere. People at that time
deemed it a holy and inviolable thing but as a person in the modern age, I just feel it is cute and just like
a new kind of creature. I think this kind of difference and contrast is just fascinating.
So I continued to find out other relics with either amusing or cute or vivid facial expressions.I extracted amusing and vivid facial expressions of cultural relics from different ages and regions. I gave the assets I made a name called Relimoji, which is a combination of cultural relics and emoji. I use them to create poster series and this Relimoji Universe video. Also, I use the Relimoji assets to create a p5.js game called Human Civiliaztion Breader.
